WHAT IS A BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT?

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led and business funded organisation that is dedicated to delivering projects and activities additional to those already provided by the local authority and that the businesses themselves have identified as being beneficial for the BID area. We speak regularly with the businesses within our district, ensuring that our projects, focuses and work is in keeping with the needs and wants of the town.

WHERE DOES ONE MAIDSTONE BID CURRENTLY OPERATE?

As of October 2023 our boundary has increased. We cover a defined boundary that stretches from Sessions House
to Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre, and in the other direction from Wat Tyler Way to Fairmeadow stopping at the riverside.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

OneMaidstone BID Officially Accredited

In November 2022, OneMaidstone BID were awarded with the Official Accreditation from the industry governing body British BIDS. Of the 322 BIDs across the United Kingdom, only 29 BIDs have received accreditation. We are very proud to be one of the select few. The accreditation is awarded based on various service criteria of service based excellence and was presented at the National BID Conference 2022.

OneMaidstone BID Ambassadors Awarded

We are proud to acknowledge that our team of One Maidstone BID Ambassadors were awarded with a Quality of Service Certificate by Kent Police in 2022. The certificate was given in recognition of the team’s service and assistance during an important police matter.

In 2022-2023, our social media content reached nearly 1 million accounts. This work is an important aspect of our marketing initiative and shows the continued interest of the public in the businesses, events, activities and promotions that Maidstone Town Centre has to offer.

EVENTS

In 2022-2023 we hosted and supported over 149 events in Maidstone Town Centre. From promotional retail events like Maidfest, to the annual Christmas Lights Switch On and so many more. Our town and community thrives on events, which is shown by the increased footfall and vibrance that our town experiences during these occasions. We love putting these events on and we look forward to holding more in the future.
